We think the hotel was great. Room was nice, free wi fi, TV, A/C, and fridge. Bathroom has a shower that is hands free, hot water. Breakfast was simple - but AMAZING. Homemade bread, homemade fig jam, homemade cherry jam, and butter - delicious. Also, a fruit plate of melon. Staff was friendly and helpful. Of course you can stay in a hotel in the center, but there aren't that many sites to see in Berat that you can't afford the 20 minutes (or less if you take a taxi) to go back your isolated room, surrounded by forest on the mountain across from the city. The guide books say it is located 2km outside of the city, making it seem as though it is in the suburbs - but no, it is right across from the center, just up a road going up a mountain. Now I did walk down to the center, very easy, as the road leads to a pedestrian bridge that goes right to the center. We highly recommend to everybody. Beautiful castle, top restaurant and grat nature. The rafting adventure was a life!
